i am trying to create a remote database in my home computer server. then move all connection to my home. Coz client 's computer need to install vpn when we demonstrate the website to the client if link to the school.

on fri i got 2 assignments to due, i can't do IE coding in this week. Sorry.

last two weeks

This two weeks, i was still developing the Arlyia System, i did the testimonial sub system, static content sub system, now i am developing the gift voucher sub system.
I code every day until mid night, sleep always at 3am, >.<.....But max is poorer than me, he even needs to stay overnight at monash, coz he didn't have Desktop and he feels that laptop slow down the developing progress.
Originally, gift voucher sub system should be done by Dennis, but he was sick, he even hasn't finish his photo gallery part as it should be finished last week. So i help to do managing part of gift voucher sub system to give him a start with.

this week task of me is to finish testimonial on sunday

after new schedule we confirmed on Wednesday, I am going to finish testimonial by Sunday. So i am now developing the testimonial.

new schedule

Because I saw the schedule has a bit brief, didn't describe details, So i create one more with exactly date to finish which part, and now going to send to max and dennis to check.

i think Dennis has a bit overconfidence, he always do his work in last min, and he always said:"ok,ok, should be fine." But finally, he doesn't come out with his work on time. We can show sympathy for him because he has Five units in this semester. So now, max and i decide to get back the main function to do, will give Dennis to do sub system.

We originally conform to use VB.net, and Dennis said he is fine for any language, but when we meeting to check our progress, Dennis comes out with his work in C#, then we ask he why, he just said he doesn't like VB.net. So now max and i need to change to C#. And we just told Dennis next time remember to communicate with us first.

this week for the main menu

i hv spent four days of this week to do the menu, i do so many research on Menu control in asp.net2.0, coz i need the image in the main menu which can easy be modified later, coz the client hasn't build their Suite yet, so they can't provide the photos for the website at this moment, they want to edit by themselves later on.
Finally, i use static item template to do this, i put two hyperlink control in one item, one with image, and one is just text, and both bind it to sitemap file which can be modified easily, after that code the hover style.
This main menu finally works ok, but may need to test more, and need to do a page for client able to edit sitemap file.

And now, there is another problem, the page layout works perfectly in IE6.0, but when i open in Mozilla, the layout is totally wrong, just like the following.
i think there is difference of div tag between IE and Mozilla, after i google this, i found the mozilla calculate the div width and height from the content, and IE is calculated from the border, that 's why the text move up and overlap the image. now i am searching the solution of this problems.

Functions

max is developing the customer side booking function, dennis is developing the admin side booking function, then i am going to finish the CMS function, then i will move to upload image function. hopefully, we can finish at the end of this month or a week more.

Still Developing

So far is ok I think, but just a bit slow, coz i am just still setting up the CMS stuffs, and need to do research how to do this CMS. Finally, we decide to do in XML. Luckily, I hv tested and tried successfully of binding data from XML to asp.net and manage it.


By the way, coz Dennis, our development manager, absent last week because of sick, so we can't discuss how we separate and develop the sub system of Arlyia. Then max and i just do some research and think how we implement the sub system.

I think we will plan which sub system should be done in when this week, so we can finish implement the system earlier and start testing.

First Post in Sem 2

This is the first post for semester2 IE post, sorry for the late.
So far, I created the admin interface for managing booking, i am trying to apply few ajax on the page, eg. tab container, calendar, accordion by using ajax toolkit. Unfortunately, as my lack of knowledge of ajax, there are few problems when i using them, eg. inside the ajax tab panel, i can't put another ajax accordion on it. But I am now trying to fix the problems.

I feel bad...

This is my first time to touch C++ language and i submitted the assignment on last friday. although i have already done my best, I still feel bad with my assignment. Tell the truth, this is the first time that i feel my assignment will be failed. I have done so much researchs on it, using book and website, asked tutor and classsmates, i still can't get this program work properly.
Also, i should apologize to my IE groupmate as i only focus on this assignement and didn't do so much work on that IE project. Sorry, mate!

Thank you our supervisor

I am now have more reassurance about the project as after meeting with our supervisor. Thank you again, because he spent his own time to help us to identify and give us the right track to the project, thank you david.

As this week studio, david said we should use prototype to explain to clients. Actually, I totally agree this point, in fact, I had given this suggestion to our group before, I suggested that it is an easier way for us to explain to our client about the functions and data flow of the project, but because of our busy week, we didn't decide about it at that moment. Merely, after david's support, we decide to write functional document and build a prototype at the same time. Hope this is a correct decision and good for us in future.

the point to support me to suggest to use prototype is from a sentence of my father, i don't know how to say in english, but the meaning of that sentence can be "A thousand miles of trip, begins with a single step." If we don't build a prototype, we can't build a working system.

Upset..

Yesterday, we receive an email from our client, the content of the email basically mentioned that he doesn't satisfy our work and what we are doing.
Today, we fortually see our supervisor, he asked us after reading the email:"Did you guys feel upset about this email, don't need to feel upset." Our team leader then answer not really feel upset. But in fact for me, at that moment, i really feel upset about that, i was quite lose when i read the email, because I really put effort on the work and I spent more time in this project compare with my other 3 subjects. I think not even me, my teamates also did their best, but i don't know why.
I remember in our second meeting, I did summaries three points of the system we should follow, and he also agree that, but i don't know why.
Anyway, we have our own discussion today about few ways to improve. And we fastly separate several areas for the system for each memeber, then we can move on earlier.

after all client meeting

wooo....that 's funny!! really good feeling. that 's my first time to attend this kind of activity, i may name this as "Social Activity", the feeling was that i went to a high class party, every one wear formal dress, drinking wine with wineglass, chatting within a group. i will not forget that moment, and i belive i will attend more in my future life.

and one thing interesting is that our client really want to get acquainted with other group's client, i don't know why as i didn't hear what they were actually talking about, after i saw that, i suddenly have a feeling that this meeting is for clients to know each other, not for us.

But any way, that 's a good memory of me in my uni life. thanks IE.

before all client meeting today

we will have all group client meeting today afternoon, and our client will attend this. haha, dress up again.

but we don't know what we should prepare, then we think just bring ourselves in formal and listen the meeting well.

for the first client meeting, we need to dress up. for me, that was my first time to wear that formal suit, although i was nervous but the feeling was quite good.
the whole meeting process i think is good, but the content of the meeting i think is not really good, because the questions asked client were not systematicness in my point of view.
hope we can impove on that.

My blog post after a year

Actually, that was my first time to hear that teacher will see student's blog for assignment purpose, very interesting.

I didn't write blog for a long time, I remeber the time i post my last blog is a year ago, as uni student, a busy life for me, and i couldn't get the time to write blog.....>.<

Anyway, now is a chance for me to write blog again.
